Apple has announced a suite of new features for its AirPods Pro 2 earbuds, with a focus on hearing health and improving the overall listening experience. These updates are part of the company's ongoing efforts to provide users with a more comprehensive and personalized audio experience.
Hearing Protection: A New Standard in Noise Reduction
The first feature, Hearing Protection, is designed to help users prevent exposure to loud environmental noise while preserving the sound signature of the audio they are listening to. This feature leverages the H2 chip to actively reduce louder, more intermittent noise at 48,000 times per second, complementing the passive noise reduction provided by the AirPods Pro 2 ear tips. Media Assist will "boost certain parts of speech on a phone call or instruments within a soundtrack to help an even broader population.
Hearing Aid: A Breakthrough in Accessibility
The fourth and final feature, Hearing Aid, is a groundbreaking innovation that provides users with mild to moderate hearing loss with a clinical-grade hearing aid. This feature uses the results from the Hearing Test to provide users with personalized dynamic adjustments, enabling them to fine-tune their experience in real-time. The Hearing Aid feature is grounded in science and validated through rigorous scientific studies. It will receive approval from health authorities soon and launch this fall in over 100 countries and regions, including the United States, Germany, and Japan.
